POSITION OVERVIEW
The Marketing Communications Specialist is a proactive and detail-focused professional in the realm of marketing and communications. This role is essential in bolstering the comprehensive marketing and communication strategies of the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of digital marketing, exceptional communication abilities, and the capacity to juggle multiple responsibilities effectively while working autonomously.

This position requires collaboration across various departments to collect information, adhere to deadlines, and further the mission of the society.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Communication: 35%

Implement designated components of a holistic communication strategy, which includes the creation of newsletters, emails, and social media content.
Develop captivating and informative materials to highlight association initiatives, events, educational opportunities, and member accomplishments.
Oversee the execution of email campaigns, ensuring timely distribution and analyzing performance metrics.

Website Management: 15%


Adhere to established timelines for content review and updates, consistently refresh and maintain the association's website with pertinent information, ensuring accuracy and alignment with site standards.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute website improvements and enhance user experience.
Track and report website analytics to monitor performance and suggest enhancements.

Optimize SEO for all website content – collaborating with stakeholders on new features and revising existing text.

Annual Meeting Marketing: 35%

Provide production assistance for the association's annual meeting, encompassing both print and digital materials.
Support scripting and presentations for assigned sessions, which includes drafting and refining content, collaborating with volunteers, creating PowerPoint presentations, and managing onsite responsibilities during the Annual Meeting (in conjunction with the onsite A/V team).
Review and ensure that marketing materials, signage, and presentations are consistent with the overarching theme and objectives.

Write and update website content related to the annual meeting, coordinating print materials with vendors to ensure timely delivery.

Work closely with the education and programs teams to draft/update content for the app and online program, ensuring accuracy.

Public Relations Support: 10%

Assist in composing press releases and other communication materials.
Maintain a collaborative relationship with external PR firms and support their outreach efforts between members and the media as necessary.
Post all press releases to the association's website.
Maintain a member-focused press website concerning external coverage post-Annual Meeting.

Maintenance of Department Files: 5%

Organize and maintain digital files related to marketing and communications initiatives.
Ensure documents are readily accessible and current for team members.
Implement and uphold best practices for file management.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience (3-5 years) in marketing and communications, ideally within an association or similar organization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, Google Analytics, and email marketing tools.
Understanding of public relations best practices and principles, including ethical considerations, audience awareness, authenticity, transparency, clarity in messaging, and fact-checking.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities.
Graphic design proficiency using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with SEO best practices.
Familiarity with association management software.
