POSITION SUMMARY

Oversee the activities of custodial staff during assigned shifts, delegate tasks, train personnel, and evaluate work to ensure the effective cleaning and maintenance of County facilities under basic supervision.

This role requires the ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the primary functions described.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise, schedule, assign, and inspect the work of custodial staff on an assigned shift.
  • Coordinate preparations for routine and special events, identifying and resolving issues.
  • Manage and distribute inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Train staff and assign various custodial and manual labor tasks.
  • Update custodial safety data sheets and inform staff of new cleaning agents.
  • Review custodial work to ensure compliance with departmental standards.
  • Plan and supervise major cleaning projects as directed.
  • Process and assign work orders, maintaining daily logs and reports.
  • Inspect and maintain custodial equipment for proper functioning.
  • Monitor staff adherence to safety regulations and report any hazards or issues.
  • Perform custodial duties as needed to meet workload demands.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding work-related matters and sensitive information.
  • Carry out other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of custodial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Arizona State Driver's License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Familiarity with materials, methods, equipment, and supplies used in facility maintenance.
  • Understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions, including proper chemical handling.
  • Ability to assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of others.
  • Skill in training staff on proper work methods and safety protocols.
  • Capability to work independently and follow safety standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The role requires medium physical exertion, including the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 30 pounds frequently.

It also necessitates the ability to perform various physical activities such as standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is conducted in a safe and secure environment, which may occasionally present unexpected demands.
