Job Summary

This is an entry-level role for establishing the skills of first-level welders and assemblers. Employees will rotate through various welding and assembly departments, developing a strong foundation in welding and fabrication techniques. A successful candidate is self-motivated and utilizes a strong work ethic to ensure all quality levels are met and career progression is established.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Set up welding machines to MIG or Flux Core wire as needed to meet production and quality standards.
  2. Assist Welder 1 and 2 in fit up, grinding, cutting, and equipment setup.
  3. Assist in layout of tanks and pressure vessel parts.
  4. Safely operate and perform SMAW, GMAW or SAW duties.
  5. Learn basic assembly processes.
  6. Safely operate various hand/air/power tools.
  7. Learn to properly identify and document vessel parts/components.
  8. Assist assigned mentor as necessary.
  9. Inspect and weld all parts ensuring there are no welding flaws, discontinuities, or defects with mentor's guidance.
  10. Complete 90-day checklist.
  11. Comply with the 5 As of performance (Attendance, Attitude, Adaptability, Accident-free, and Accountability).
  12. Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  13. Organize work area with instruction from group leaders to meet production demands.
Requirements
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Welding Certificate and/or 0-6 months of previous welding or assembly experience or equivalent knowledge required.
  3. Must be able to pass weld skill pre-employment assessment.
  4. Practice and pass basic ASME welder performance qualification tests if applicable.
  5. Intermediate math skills and ability to read a tape measure required.
  6. Must be able to distinguish between part numbers and sizes required.
  7. Must be able to count and label parts accurately.
  8. Must be able to learn pressure gauges and how to read them.
  9. Ability to read and understand blueprints strongly preferred.

  1. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, up to entire length of shift.
  2. Must be able to handle physical, repetitive work.
  3. Must be able to exert moderate to heavy physical effort with lifting requirement up to 50 pounds.
  4. Must have a strong range of motion.
  5. Must be able to sit, stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend.
  6. Must be able to see, speak, and hear.
  7. Must be able to read instructions and all measuring devices.
  8. Must use fingers and hands to manipulate tools and small parts.
  9. Must be able to walk over both even and uneven surfaces.
  10. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  11. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE.
  12. Must be physically able to access all areas of the plant and grounds.
  13. Some aspects of this position may require working in tight quarters.
  14. Some aspects of this position may require close vision, depth perception, the ability to see small detail, and the ability to adjust focus.
