Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY
This role serves as an introductory position aimed at developing the skills necessary for entry-level welders and assemblers. Employees will gain experience by rotating through various departments focused on welding and assembly. It is anticipated that most individuals in this role will transition to their designated departments within a short timeframe. A successful candidate will demonstrate self-motivation and a robust work ethic to ensure quality standards are consistently met while advancing their career.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this position, candidates must effectively perform the essential duties and responsibilities outlined below. The qualifications listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consistent and timely attendance is a fundamental requirement for this position, essential for both individual and team effectiveness.

  1. Configure welding equipment for MIG or Flux Core wire as necessary to achieve production and quality benchmarks.
  2. Support Welder 1 and 2 with fitting, grinding, cutting, and equipment preparation.
  3. Assist in the layout of tanks and pressure vessel components.
  4. Safely execute SMAW, GMAW, or SAW tasks.
  5. Acquire knowledge of basic assembly procedures.
  6. Operate various hand, air, and power tools safely.
  7. Learn to accurately identify and document vessel parts and components.
  8. Provide assistance to the assigned mentor as needed.
  9. Inspect and weld components, ensuring the absence of flaws or defects under the guidance of a mentor.
  10. Complete the 90-day evaluation checklist.
  11. Adhere to the 5 As of performance: Attendance, Attitude, Adaptability, Accident-free, and Accountability.
  12. Follow all safety protocols and procedures.
  13. Organize the workspace under the direction of group leaders to meet production requirements.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  2. A Welding Certificate and/or 0-6 months of relevant welding or assembly experience is required.
  3. Ability to pass a welding skill pre-employment assessment is essential.
  4. Must practice and pass basic ASME welder performance qualification tests if applicable.
  5. Intermediate math skills and proficiency in reading a tape measure are required.
  6. Ability to distinguish between part numbers and sizes is necessary.
  7. Capability to accurately count and label parts is essential.
  8. Must learn to read and understand pressure gauges.
  9. Reading and interpreting blueprints is strongly preferred.

  1. Must be able to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
  2. Ability to perform physical, repetitive tasks is necessary.
  3. Must exert moderate to heavy physical effort, with lifting requirements up to 50 pounds.
  4. Strong range of motion is required.
  5. Must be able to sit, stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend.
  6. Must possess the ability to see, speak, and hear.
  7. Must read instructions and utilize measuring devices effectively.
  8. Ability to manipulate tools and small parts with hands and fingers is necessary.
  9. Must navigate both even and uneven surfaces.
  10. Ability to work in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, is required.
  11. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  12. Physical ability to access all areas of the facility is essential.
  13. Some tasks may require working in confined spaces.
  14. Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus on small details are necessary.
