POSITION SUMMARY
This role serves as an introductory position aimed at developing the competencies of novice welders and assemblers. Employees will engage in various welding and assembly operations, with the expectation that most individuals will transition to their designated departments within a short timeframe. A successful candidate demonstrates self-motivation and a robust work ethic to uphold quality standards and facilitate career advancement.

To excel in this position, an individual must effectively fulfill each primary duty or responsibility. The qualifications outlined below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consistent and timely attendance is a fundamental requirement for all positions and is crucial for both personal effectiveness and team performance.

  1. Configure welding equipment for MIG or Flux Core wire as required to achieve production and quality benchmarks.
  2. Support Welder 1 and 2 in preparation, grinding, cutting, and equipment setup.
  3. Assist in the arrangement of tanks and pressure vessel components.
  4. Safely execute SMAW, GMAW, or SAW tasks.
  5. Acquire knowledge of basic assembly techniques.
  6. Safely utilize various hand, air, and power tools.
  7. Learn to accurately identify and document vessel parts and components.
  8. Provide assistance to the assigned mentor as needed.
  9. Inspect and weld all components, ensuring the absence of welding defects under the mentor's supervision.
  10. Complete the 90-day performance checklist.
  11. Adhere to the 5 As of performance: Attendance, Attitude, Adaptability, Accident-free, and Accountability.
  12. Follow all safety protocols and procedures.
  13. Organize the workspace under the guidance of group leaders to meet production requirements.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  2. Welding certification and/or 0-6 months of relevant welding or assembly experience or equivalent knowledge is required.
  3. Ability to pass a pre-employment welding skills assessment is essential.
  4. Must practice and pass basic ASME welder performance qualification tests if applicable.
  5. Intermediate mathematical skills and proficiency in reading a tape measure are necessary.
  6. Ability to differentiate between part numbers and sizes is required.
  7. Must accurately count and label parts.
  8. Familiarity with pressure gauges and their readings is essential.
  9. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints is strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  2. Must handle physically demanding, repetitive tasks.

  5. Must be able to sit, stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend.
  6. Must have the ability to see, speak, and hear.
  7. Must read instructions and all measuring devices.
  8. Must use hands and fingers to manipulate tools and small components.
  9. Must walk over both even and uneven surfaces.
  10. Must work in varying temperature conditions, both hot and cold.
  11. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  12. Must be physically capable of accessing all areas of the facility.
  13. Some aspects of this role may require working in confined spaces.
  14. Some tasks may necessitate close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus on small details.
