Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team at South East Alaska Regional Health Consortium. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for performing specific accounting functions, preparing complex financial grant accounting data, and maintaining general ledger and/or updating budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grant Accounting and Reporting
    • Prepare and submit detailed monthly, quarterly, and closeout financial reports to external funding agencies.
    • Reconcile grant budgets to actual expenditures and prepare necessary adjusting journal entries.
    • Ensure grants are not overspent and comply with reporting requirements at the end of the grant period.
    • Independently review funding agency financial reporting requirements and communicate with funding agencies as necessary.
  • General Ledger Integrity Review and Management Reporting
    • Analyze general ledger at the end of each month and prepare/post adjusting journal entries.
    • Review complex financial data and assist in preparation of comprehensive financial reports for management.
    • Advises managers and administrative staff on the financial status of programs and individual accounts as necessary.
    • Meet monthly reporting deadlines and ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger.
  • Assisting with Annual External Financial Statement Audit
    • Prepare Schedule of Federal Financial Assistance and/or Schedule of State Financial Assistance Single Audits.
    • Ensure Consortium complies with Circulars (A-133, etc.) requirements.
    • Coordinate with auditors to clear and audit exceptions.
    • Prepare supplemental schedules and reconciliations on an as-needed basis during audit.
  • Special Financial Accounting Projects
    • Assist Senior Accountant with complicated and difficult projects requiring research.
    • Work independently to solve complex financial problems.
    • Assist manager in completion of the HRSA Uniform Data System annual report (Table BA, 9E, etc.) requirements by the deadline.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business with emphasis in accounting or equivalent field.
  • Relevant experience may be exchanged on a year-for-year basis in lieu of degree.
  • 3 years of experience in accounting, including preparation of federal and state grant reports and preparation of State and Federal Single Audit schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Intermediate fund accounting knowledge.
  • Annual audit requirement understanding.
  • Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) knowledge.
