The Financial Grants Specialist will oversee all aspects related to grant management within the organization.
This role involves collaborating with both agency and finance personnel to guarantee that all grant applications and reports are thorough, precise, and submitted on schedule. The Financial Grants Specialist will also ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, reporting obligations, and specific conditions associated with grants.
Additionally, this position will monitor the ongoing service delivery and expenditure levels for all grants, serving as a resource for the organization regarding all grant-related requirements.
Key Responsibilities• Uphold a comprehensive understanding of the VALID8 Financial mission, philosophy, history, and core values, communicating these effectively to staff, clients, and the community.
• Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures while maintaining high ethical standards.
• Reconcile grant expenditures to confirm accurate coding and allowable costs.
• Maintain grant documentation to ensure it is always ready for audits.
• Establish and oversee reporting and filing timelines for all grants.
• Generate financial reports for grants and collaborate with agency staff to ensure timely submission of all grant documentation.
• Track grant spending meticulously to ensure responsible management of all funds.
• Review grant and contract award documents to create the necessary accounting framework for accurate financial reporting.
• Facilitate financial accounting between the organization and grant providers to ensure all costs are accurately recorded and reported, in line with applicable regulations.
• Assist in coordinating the annual audit, periodic grant monitoring reviews, and other necessary internal and external evaluations.
• Collaborate with accounting staff to ensure proper time allocations for employees and expenses associated with grants.
• Participate in all required training sessions, including grant management seminars and accounting courses.
• Upon finalizing agreements, store and track contracts, outlining terms and responsible departments.
• Foster positive working relationships across all organizational departments.
• Perform additional accounting and organizational duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation: An Associate Degree in Business Administration or a related field with a focus on accounting is required; a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years of professional accounting experience is necessary, with a preference for at least two years of experience with federal and state grants.
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and the ability to quickly adapt to state and federal regulations is essential. Experience in not-for-profit accounting is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Basic understanding of adolescent development and behaviors, with the ability to relate to at-risk youth and demonstrate empathy.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with staff, clients, and community organizations.
