About the Position

VHB is seeking a Senior Project Manager / Senior Environmental Engineer / Geologist to lead our Site Investigation & Remediation practice in New York City. The ideal candidate will be a market expert and support business development pursuits in the NYC area. This hire will serve as a team leader and work closely with our Planning, Engineering, and Mobility teams on complex urban redevelopment projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other disciplines to develop innovative solutions to unique urban development challenges.
  • Manage client relationships and attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/compliance issues.
  • Prepare environmental mitigation/remediation compliance documents, including compliance with City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR) and State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA).
  • Develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs.
  • Participate in professional organizations to promote relationships with clients and teaming partners.
  • Develop new project opportunities and prepare proposal submissions.
  • Interpret and communicate investigation findings.
  • Leverage technology to support data management and visualization.
  • Write technical reports, correspondence, notes, and memoranda.
  • Mentor and supervise junior team members.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or related field.
  • 11-15 years of professional site investigation and remediation experience, with 5 recent years of remediation projects in the NYC metro market, required.
  • 15+ years of site investigation and remediation experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
  • Masters Degree preferred (a masters degree may substitute for 1 year of experience).
  • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required.
  • Professional Licensure or on track to obtain (PG, PE, CHMM).
