As a Senior Traffic Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and executing projects, ensuring they adhere to strict standards and timelines. Your expertise will be instrumental in improving traffic flow and enhancing the safety and efficiency of our transportation systems.
Responsibilities:- Lead and conduct comprehensive traffic engineering studies and simulations, encompassing data collection programs, capacity analysis, accident investigations, signal warrant evaluations, roundabout studies, level of service assessments, and intersection analyses.
- Provide essential traffic input for environmental studies and roadway designs, including traffic impact studies, geometric design, intersection design, traffic signals, roadway signing, pavement marking, and WZTC/MPT plans.
- Collaborate with teams to design or develop plans for new transportation systems or infrastructure projects such as airports, highways, streets, bridges, drainage structures, and roadway lighting.
- Review construction plans, design calculations, and cost estimates to ensure accuracy and compliance with client specifications.
- Supervise the maintenance and repair of transportation systems and components.
- Analyze traffic patterns, environmental conditions, accident rates, safety measures, pedestrian volumes, and practices to identify challenges and plan for potential project impacts.
- Prepare detailed technical or statistical reports as required by clients.
- Develop plans for the environmentally sound deconstruction of damaged or obsolete roadways or transportation structures.
- Evaluate traffic control devices and lighting systems to determine the need for modifications or expansions.
- Produce final project layout drawings that include stress calculations.
- Provide technical expertise to clients and personnel regarding design or repairs.
- Partner with marketing professionals to prepare and present public reports on topics such as bid proposals, deeds, environmental impact statements, property descriptions, and right-of-way details.
- Participate in client meetings, including proposal, progress, and completion meetings, as needed.
- Bachelor's degree (B.S., or B.A.) in Civil Engineering with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in general civil engineering, emphasizing highway/roadway design. A Master's degree (M.S.) in Civil Engineering and PTOE certification are highly desirable.
- New York Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of civil and traffic engineering principles with significant experience in roadway engineering, drainage and utility design, MOT, and project management.
- Experience working with New York state and city agencies such as NYSDOT and NYCDOT.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and the coordination of people and resources.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
