About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Healthcare Access Specialist to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive timely and effective access to medical care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Phone Support: Respond to 50-70 patient calls per day, resolving moderate to complex issues and providing empathetic support.
  • Scheduling and Verification: Schedule and verify appointments in our clinical information system, ensuring seamless coordination with healthcare providers.
  • Patient Data Management: Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information, maintaining accurate records.
  • Task Management: Send and receive tasks to provider offices to facilitate patient access to medical care.
  • Referral Processing: Receive and process stat and at-risk referrals, expediting critical patient care.
  • Communication: Contact patients to inform them of appointment and referral status, ensuring timely updates.
  • Data Entry: Perform high-volume data entry tasks, maintaining accurate records.
  • Complaint Resolution: Process and resolve expedited patient complaints, providing prompt and effective solutions.
  • Medication Refill Processing: Review and process medication refill requests, ensuring timely fulfillment.
  • Proactive Response: Respond proactively to inquiries from patients, providers, and internal medical personnel, providing expert support.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience: 1+ year of experience with computer and Windows PC applications, including the ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system applications.
  • Electronic Medical Record Systems: 1+ year of experience with electronic medical record systems.
  • Availability: Ability to work our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm, with occasional overtime or weekend work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Related Experience: 1+ year of experience in a related environment, such as office, administrative, clerical, customer service, or healthcare.
  • Healthcare Experience: Prior experience in healthcare, including patient support and medical record management.
  • eClinicalWorks EMR System: Prior experience with the eClinicalWorks EMR system.
  • Bilingual Fluency: Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
