Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required; preference for candidates with college coursework in business, criminal justice, social work, or a related discipline; at least one year of experience in clerical roles with public interaction, ideally within a corrections or public safety context; or an equivalent mix of training and experience. An Associate's degree is preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory. According to the Virginia DMV point system, the record must not show six or more demerit points in the last twenty-four months, or one major violation of six demerit points in the last thirty-six months. Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented during the interview. Records should demonstrate at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of the interview. Pre-employment drug screening, FBI criminal background checks, and verification of education/degree are required.

This role involves working in high-security environments regulated by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy," necessitating the successful completion of a more rigorous criminal background check. Candidates must be US citizens or lawful residents of the US for the past ten consecutive years.

This position is classified as Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Key Responsibilities

Provides data entry and administrative support to pretrial and probation units, including managing criminal histories, which requires VCIN certification. Issues receipts for money order payments as received. Conducts research on court referrals and supplies information to staff and clients. Welcomes and assists visitors regarding departmental programs and services and addresses inquiries via phone and in person. Acts as a backup for other clerical personnel. Performs additional tasks as necessary.

Shift Details

28 hours per week; schedule varies Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
