Research Internship in Global Economy and Development

Brookings Institution is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented research intern to support the USMCA initiative. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in global economy and development, trade policy, and public policy.
The intern will work closely with the research team to assist with literature reviews, data searches, and database updates. They will also support event planning, stakeholder engagement, and drafting public remarks. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to attend meetings, think tank events, and professional development workshops.
This is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students in their junior or senior year and graduate students pursuing a master's degree in a relevant field to gain practical experience and develop their skills in research, analysis, and communication.
The internship is open to hybrid and/or remote applicants, and the selected candidate will be required to commit to a minimum of 10-20 hours per week during regular business hours.
Responsibilities
The intern will be responsible for:
- Supporting research tasks, including literature reviews, data searches, and database updates
- Assisting with event planning, stakeholder engagement, and drafting public remarks
- Attending meetings, think tank events, and professional development workshops
- Developing their analytical thinking, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills
Qualifications
To be eligible for this internship, candidates must:
- Be a graduate student pursuing a master's degree or an undergraduate student in their junior or senior year in a relevant field
- Have a strong interest in global economy and development, trade policy, and public policy
- Have some knowledge of qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed methods research
- Have experience in conducting literature searches and review
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
