Chief Information Officer

University of Vermont seeks a visionary Chief Information Officer to lead its information technology efforts. The successful candidate will partner with the president and senior leadership team to drive strategic planning, innovation, and excellence in IT.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with the university's mission and goals.
- Leadership: Foster a collaborative and inclusive IT environment, promoting a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Technology Innovation: Drive the adoption of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, to enhance the university's IT capabilities.
- Cybersecurity: Ensure the security and integrity of university data, systems, and services, adhering to relevant laws and regulations.
- IT Governance: Establish and maintain effective IT governance structures, ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance.
- Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and retain a diverse and highly skilled IT team, promoting career growth and development.
- Financial Management: Provide responsible financial stewardship, ensuring effective budgeting, resource allocation, and cost management.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in computer science, information technology, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Ten-plus years of experience in information technology, including management experience and experience planning and implementing technology initiatives.
- Skills: Strong technical background, excellent communication and leadership skills, and experience in strategic planning, budget management, and cybersecurity.
