Position Overview:

We are in search of a motivated and skilled part-time Accountant to become a vital part of our team in the healthcare sector. This role presents an excellent opportunity for students pursuing degrees in accounting, finance, or business.

The part-time Accountant will oversee a variety of accounting and financial responsibilities, emphasizing accuracy, compliance, and the financial health of the organization.

This position requires a combination of accounting expertise, financial insight, and strategic thought.

Initially, this role may involve up to 25 hours of work per week, with the potential for increased hours and responsibilities as skills develop.

We offer flexibility in scheduling for the right candidate, with a typical workday consisting of four hours in the office.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive General Ledger (GL) and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze income statements, identifying discrepancies and areas for financial enhancement.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations, ensuring accurate recording of all business activities.
  • Assist in developing and managing the annual budget, collaborating with department heads to meet financial objectives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial entries.
  • Provide specialized accounting services tailored to the healthcare sector, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Oversee grant management, ensuring efficient handling of all financial aspects.
  • Lead the year-end closing process, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial records.
  • Conduct regular reviews of balance sheets, identifying potential issues and implementing necessary solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in non-profit accounting is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with GL, General Ledger Reconciliation, income statements, intercompany transactions, annual budget preparation, healthcare accounting, grants, year-end closing, and balance sheets.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic planning abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Ability to work independently, manage complex projects, and meet deadlines.
  • High integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
