The Healthcare Account Specialist acts as an integral part of a client's business office team. Specialists are tasked with handling incoming and outgoing communications with patients and insurance providers to address account balances. Adherence to client policies and procedures is essential. Specialists will undertake various job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Experience needed for insurance-focused roles:


Appeals & DenialsMedicare/MedicaidCommercial & Federal insurance providersInsurance Follow-upUB-04 & CMS 1500Responsible for managing 40-70 Accounts Daily Duties and ResponsibilitiesAddress all business-related inquiries and correspondence from patients and insurance providers.

A minimum call requirement for self-pay specialists is 75 calls per day.
Complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Assist clients and patients with all requested services.
Communicate to Guidehouse management any concerns or suggestions for improvement. Client ResponsibilityInvestigate and respond to all patient inquiries received via phone and mail.
Update patient demographic information and initiate account modifications.
Strive to resolve account balances to zero before accounts are referred to external collections.

What You Will Need:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.1+ year experience in customer service or healthcare environment.

For insurance-specific clients:
1+ year experience in medical provider settings with UB04, appeals & denials.

Strong customer service skills / customer service experience requiredProficiency in PC skills within a Windows environment, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.


What Would Be Nice To Have:
Familiarity with desktop applications including Word and Excel is essential for job responsibilities.
Ability to initiate and follow through on projects independently with minimal supervision.
