The Healthcare Account Specialist acts as an extension of a client's business office. Specialists are tasked with managing incoming and outgoing communications with patients and insurance providers to address account balances. All client policies and procedures must be adhered to. Specialists will perform any and all job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Extensive outbound communication
  • Account assessment
  • Customer support
  • Account modifications
  • Medical billing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Experience needed for insurance-focused roles:

  • Appeals and denials
  • Medicare/Medicaid
  • Commercial and federal insurance providers
  • Insurance follow-up
  • UB-04 and CMS 1500
  • Responsible for managing 40-70 accounts daily

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Address all business-related inquiries and correspondence from patients and insurance companies.
  • Minimum call requirement for self-pay specialists is 75 calls per day.
  • Complete all assigned projects promptly.
  • Assist clients and patients with all requested tasks.
  • Communicate any concerns or areas for improvement to Guidehouse management.

Client Responsibility:

  • Research and respond to all patient inquiries received via phone and mail.
  • Update patient demographic information and initiate account adjustments.
  • Aim to resolve account balances to zero before accounts are forwarded for collections.


What You Will Need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of experience in customer service or healthcare settings.
  • For insurance-specific clients: 1+ year of medical provider experience with UB04, appeals, and denials.
  • Strong customer service skills and experience required.
  • Proficiency in PC skills within a Windows environment, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Knowledge and use of desktop applications, including Word and Excel, are essential for job responsibilities.
  • Ability to initiate and follow through on projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
