The Sous Chef is a key member of the culinary team at Southernmost Beach Resort, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation in our kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with the Executive Chef to develop and implement menus, recipes, and food specifications that meet corporate quality standards.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff to ensure they are knowledgeable about food preparation techniques, health department regulations, and liquor laws.
- Monitor food and labor costs, and implement strategies to maximize guest satisfaction and minimize waste.
- Coordinate and oversee all phases of Loss Prevention in kitchen areas, including inventory management and food storage.
- Prepare and submit required reports, including food cost analysis, revenue tracking, and employee schedules.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, health department regulations, and liquor laws in all kitchen areas.
- Conduct staff performance reviews and provide feedback to improve kitchen operations.
- Participate in menu planning, food purchasing, and inventory management to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Respond to guest complaints and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- At least 4 years of related progressive experience in a hotel or a related field, or a culinary graduate with at least 2 years of experience.
- Knowledge of F&B preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws, and inventory management.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of employees and guests.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, and adhere to high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
