Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and friendly Patient Service Specialist II (Medical Front Office Receptionist) who is also capable of performing a limited range of back office tasks. Key Responsibilities

Front Office Duties:

  • Execute all front office responsibilities as outlined in the Skills Competency Checklist.
  • Adhere to established policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards.
  • Collect and input patient data into the E-Practice Management system.
  • Manage patient flow, including room assignments as necessary.
  • Facilitate patient discharge processes, including charge preparation and payment collection.
  • Complete registration forms to ensure proper reimbursement from payors.
  • Prepare daily financial deposits and maintain accurate statistical records.
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for patients and families, keeping them informed of wait times.
  • Maintain adequate front office supplies and ensure equipment is operational.
  • Provide excellent customer service when answering phone calls.
  • Keep the waiting area and restrooms clean and presentable.
  • Participate in training programs and meetings as required.
  • Assist in training new hires on front office procedures.

Back Office Duties:

  • Collect limited patient specimens, including urine and nasal swabs for COVID, flu, strep, and RSV.
  • Conduct CLIA waived lab tests and report results using appropriate equipment.
  • Perform quality control testing in accordance with lab policies.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure it is in working order.
  • Keep accurate logs of patient laboratory activities.
  • Follow all laboratory and clinical accreditation guidelines.
  • Receive and store medical supplies appropriately, ensuring exam rooms are well-stocked.
  • Conduct environmental cleaning of exam rooms and medical equipment per infection control policies.
  • Handle biohazardous waste according to safety standards.
  • Conduct vision screenings and prepare for provider evaluations.
  • Be familiar with the location of emergency equipment.

The Patient Service Specialist II plays a crucial role as the initial point of contact for patients, ensuring smooth front office operations while also supporting back office functions such as laboratory testing and supply management. This position is essential in maintaining optimal patient flow and ensuring compliance with established policies, all while prioritizing patient well-being.

Qualifications

Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates with medical certification are preferred.

Experience: A minimum of one year in a similar healthcare role or certification as a Nursing Assistant is required. For current NextCare employees, at least six months of experience in the Patient Service Specialist role is necessary.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in front office roles within healthcare settings, proficiency in computer systems, and strong customer service skills are valued. The ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and think critically is essential.
