Job Summary

Columbia College Chicago is seeking a highly skilled Technical Support Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing technical support and coordination for all technology-related activities within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical consultation to user inquiries and aid with hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems with complex hardware, software, and network issues, identify root causes, and implement appropriate solutions to ensure minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Provide personalized, high-quality technical support to senior leadership including executives, senior management, and other key stakeholders, understanding their unique technology needs and preferences.
  • Maintain regular communication and provide proactive support, anticipating and addressing any potential technology challenges or requirements.
  • Set up and troubleshoot audio-visual equipment, conference room technologies, and other specialized technology setups.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to manage and maintain technology resources, including computers, servers, peripherals, and software applications, ensuring proper configuration, installation, and updates are performed as required.
  • Conduct training sessions and provide guidance to end-users on technology tools and systems.
  • Assist in onboarding new employees, ensuring they have the necessary technology resources and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of technology assets, including computers, laptops, mobile devices, and software licenses.
  • Track warranties, perform regular audits, and recommend replacements or upgrades as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of technology systems, configurations, and procedures.
  • Generate reports on technology support activities, including ticket resolution time, common issues, and user feedback, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate with technology vendors to resolve issues, schedule maintenance, and procure necessary hardware or software.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and make recommendations for vendor selection or changes as required.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to implement security measures, including user access controls, antivirus software, and data backup solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and maintain awareness of emerging threats and security best practices.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and industry best practices related to technology support.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency gains in technology-related tasks.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Three or more years of experience in providing technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems, operating systems (Windows, macOS,), and productivity software (Microsoft Office, varied department specific software).
  • Familiarity with audio-visual equipment, conference room technologies, and teleconferencing systems.
  • Familiarity with computer networks, including LAN, WAN, and wireless technologies.
  • Experience with help desk software and ticketing systems for issue tracking and resolution.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to providing excellent service and support.
