Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor a team of dosimetrists and treatment staff to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Verify the technical soundness and suitability of radiation treatment plans, ensuring compliance with University and departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and published practices.
  • Coordinate patient treatments and review treatment schedules to ensure optimal workflow and appropriate use of personnel.
  • Monitor staff utilization and productivity, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain quality improvement activities, recommending and implementing changes as necessary to improve patient satisfaction and quality assurance data.
  • Independently monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and implementing solutions to reduce operating expenses.
  • Create an engaged work environment, allocating and evaluating department work, determining required staffing levels, and providing leadership and follow-through to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
Requirements
  • Medical dosimetry certification.
  • Five years of relevant experience in radiation oncology, with a focus on external beam radiation treatment planning and delivery.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze operational data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to patients and staff.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory or practice management experience in a radiation oncology setting.
  • Knowledge of the Orange County healthcare market and the University of California, Irvine's organizational structure and policies.
  • Experience working in a union environment and knowledge of financial and accounting concepts and practices.
