Senior Radiation Therapist

Job Summary:

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a highly skilled Senior Dosimetrist to join our Radiation Oncology team. As a Senior Dosimetrist, you will play a critical role in generating and administering radiation therapy treatment plans and dose calculations necessary for patient treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and administer radiation therapy treatment plans and dose calculations
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to ensure accurate treatment plans
  • Accurately document use of radioactive materials
  • Assist in teaching and training students, residents, and physicians in radiation therapy administration and protocols
  • Perform radiation therapy planning functions such as IMRT, 3D conformal, VMAT, SRS, SBRT, HDR Brachytherapy, and image fusion
  • Collaborate with radiation therapists to ensure accuracy of patient setup
  • Participate in the clinical education of medical residents and allied health students
  • Assist in the quality assurance program in radiation oncology

Requirements:

  • Valid ARRT and CRT for radiation therapy technology or BS in Physics
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to competently operate modern radiation therapy treatment planning systems/software and multimodality image manipulation software
  • Working knowledge of relevant billing codes as they apply to procedures and activities performed in an academic hospital
  • Advanced knowledge of record-and-verify system(s) and experience using a record-and-verify system in an electronic treatment chart environment
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working as a Dosimetrist
  • Medical dosimetry certification by MDCB
  • Current BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • Proficient with VARIAN ECLIPSE treatment planning software and ARIA
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms
