Job Summary

The University of California, Irvine seeks a highly skilled and experienced Dosimetry Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Radiation Oncology department, you will be responsible for supervising a team of dosimetrists and treatment staff, ensuring the technical soundness and suitability of radiation treatment plans, and coordinating patient treatments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor a team of dosimetrists and treatment staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Verify the technical soundness and suitability of radiation treatment plans, ensuring compliance with University and department policies, regulatory requirements, and published practices.
  • Coordinate patient treatments, review treatment schedules, and ensure optimal workflow and personnel utilization.
  • Monitor staff productivity, quality assurance, and patient satisfaction, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Develop and maintain quality improvement activities, recommending and implementing changes to improve patient care and departmental operations.
  • Independently monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and implementing solutions to reduce operating expenses.
  • Creates an engaged work force and safe work environment for assigned staff, allocating and evaluating department work, determining required staffing levels, and providing leadership and follow-through to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
Requirements
  • Medical dosimetry certification.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in radiation oncology, with a focus on dosimetry and treatment planning.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to patients and staff.
  • Knowledge of budgetary processes, including establishing, maintaining, and reporting income, expenses, and variances.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in performing external beam radiation treatments and treatment planning.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory or practice management experience.
  • Knowledge of the Orange County healthcare market.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting concepts and practices, especially as relates to practice management.
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
