Job Summary

Join Youth & Family Services as a Teacher Assistant/Floater and contribute to the development of young minds. As a key member of our team, you will assist teachers in creating a healthy, safe, and learning environment for children. Your role will involve supporting daily activities, lesson plans, and field trips, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring child safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in all aspects of classroom operation, including lesson plans, field trips, and daily activities.
  • Create and maintain a healthy, safe, and learning environment conducive to each child's intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and aesthetic development.
  • Actively engage children in play and learning in the classroom, establishing and maintaining a positive and trusting relationship with children and their families.
  • Maintain accurate records for each child, including data entry and completion of appropriate documents and referrals as needed.
  • Assist in the process of classroom coverage, ensuring punctuality and child safety at all times.
Requirements
  • Pursue a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or associate's degree in early childhood education or equivalency.
  • Maintain current credentials and certifications, meeting Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Current liability insurance and a valid driver's license desirable.
  • Ability to communicate and cooperate with children, other staff, and parents effectively and tactfully.
  • Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
Working Conditions

Perform duties in a controlled office or classroom environment, participating in activities with children as appropriate. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work schedule may vary dependent upon program needs, and ability to move within the classroom and playground and on the bus.
