As an Employee Benefits Case Management Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to assess and finalize applications for group health plans offered to businesses, collaborating closely with Account Executives, sales support, management, agents/brokers, and employer representatives, as well as insurance company contacts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and qualify all new small business applications for submission to major medical insurance providers.
  • Coordinate with internal underwriting requirements alongside account executives, brokers, or groups.
  • Submit applications to carriers and ensure timely follow-up for approvals.
  • Communicate with carriers to confirm case approvals or identify additional requirements.
  • Distribute Notice of Approval to account executives, brokers, and/or groups.
  • Support account executives, brokers/agents, and sales managers as necessary.
  • Generate quotes within the carrier system and confirm the accuracy of the sold rates.
  • Process and enter/upload groups using various proprietary systems from carriers.
  • Stay updated on current carrier promotions and provide education to account executives, brokers, and groups as needed.
  • Collaborate with account executives to propose options and solutions for unique cases using industry and carrier insights.
  • Foster relationships with carrier underwriters.
  • Prioritize urgent cases effectively and meet deadlines, especially during peak periods.
  • Regularly review and ensure that the correct versions of applications and employer documents are maintained in our system.
  • Analyze carrier audit reports to ensure future submissions meet each carrier's clean and complete requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Small Business Group Underwriting is preferred.
  • Ability to perform well under time constraints and respond promptly to inquiries.
  • Collaborative approach to secure group approvals and meet deadlines.
  • Competence in managing multiple projects is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent prioritization abilities.
  • Proficient in internet research for case assessments.
