Key Responsibilities:

The Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute (LFKRI) at New York Blood Center is seeking applications for faculty roles at various levels in the field of Chemical Biology. LFKRI is comprised of a diverse group of faculty members engaged in both fundamental and translational research focused on the cellular, molecular, and biochemical aspects of hematology, making it the largest non-profit research institute dedicated to classical hematology worldwide. Our faculty are involved in NIH-funded research across several domains, including stem cell biology, immunobiology related to blood disorders, transfusion therapy, infectious disease prevention, and advancements in genomics and data science.

We encourage candidates with expertise in synthetic chemistry—encompassing combinatorial and natural product synthesis, structure-guided drug design, and innovative synthesis techniques for drug discovery—to apply. The ideal candidate will lead a forward-thinking research program that integrates chemical methodologies to enhance our existing research initiatives.

Research Environment:

Located in a vibrant area, LFKRI is surrounded by prestigious research institutions that foster a collaborative biomedical research atmosphere. Faculty members are expected to develop innovative, externally funded research projects supported by competitive grants. LFKRI provides access to an array of shared core facilities, including advanced flow cytometry, confocal and electron microscopy, GMP-compliant research environments, and internal support for IACUC and IRB processes. Additionally, faculty will have the opportunity to utilize NYBC's extensive blood donor resources, facilitating cutting-edge research in transfusion and regenerative medicine.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. and/or M.D. or an equivalent degree in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry, along with a strong record of prior research achievements. Experience in advancing clinical candidates is highly valued. The successful candidate will receive a competitive start-up package, substantial salary support based on experience and rank, a comprehensive benefits package, and modern research facilities. LFKRI also supports faculty in recruiting postdoctoral researchers by covering external recruitment fees and providing a housing allowance, along with assistance in visa applications.

Salary Information:

For candidates performing this role in New York City or Westchester County, the anticipated annual salary ranges from $110,000 to $250,000. For those located outside these areas, compensation will align with local market standards and reflect the applicant's skills, knowledge, and experience.
