Role Overview:

As a pivotal part of the food supply chain, our delivery drivers ensure that products reach customers in excellent condition and on time. In the role of Driver Check-In Coordinator, you will be essential in verifying that our drivers are accurately checked in and that all returned items are processed correctly.

Key Responsibilities:

In your capacity as the Driver Check-In Coordinator, you will oversee the check-in process for Delivery Drivers, ensuring precision in the check-in and returns procedures. You will engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, providing timely and accurate responses to inquiries. Your role will involve collaboration within the department and across the organization, performing any necessary duties to support the company’s objectives.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Facilitating the check-in process for drivers returning from deliveries.
  • Receiving and reconciling drivers' receipts for daily customer deliveries, securing cash and checks appropriately.
  • Examining and verifying all returned items for re-entry into inventory.
  • Maintaining Department of Transportation (DOT) logs and vehicle maintenance records.
  • Addressing quality-related concerns with inventory personnel and communicating delivery challenges with drivers and managers.
  • Assisting with vehicle repairs and maintenance coordination as needed.
  • Helping unload trucks and performing truck cleanouts.
  • Inspecting returning trailers and verifying returned goods and damaged products.
  • Making informed decisions regarding the disposition of returned items.
  • Re-entering goods into inventory and maintaining accurate records of returns.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) along with 1-3 years of relevant experience. Strong communication skills and the ability to apply basic math are essential. Candidates must demonstrate reliability in following verbal and written instructions and possess intermediate computer skills, with a willingness to learn new software as needed. Certification for operating powered equipment, such as forklifts, is also required.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires the physical ability to regularly lift and carry weights of up to 10 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally. Candidates should be capable of standing for extended periods and walking continuously, as well as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, or crawling as necessary. The position may also require certification on various powered equipment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in the foodservice distribution industry (1+ years preferred).
  • Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic log systems.
  • Experience with handheld point of delivery scanning systems.
  • Background in customer service roles.
