About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced State Director to join our team at Long Island Community Hospital. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operational management of our state-level initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management to ensure that the mission, vision, and organizational goals are operationalized within the specified state and region.
  • Ensure connections and coordination among state and organizational priorities at operational, management, and board levels.
  • Serve as executive staff to the Comagine Community Board, including facilitation and execution of leadership meetings, overall development, and ensuring appropriate policies and procedures consistent with community board roles and responsibilities.
  • Work with regional PFAC leadership to optimize local PFAC activities.
  • Coordinate with facilities team to ensure privacy and security and vendor management.
  • Build and sustain an organizational culture that emphasizes focus on outcomes and strong local relationships with stakeholders, service to customers, excellence in operations and systems, and integrity of service delivery and quality improvement.
  • Represent Comagine Health locally and make presentations before public and professional audiences as appropriate.
  • Pursue and secure new business opportunities for Comagine and coordinate with other state EDs and SVPs, VPs, and Service Line Leaders and business development team in pursuit of business opportunities across the enterprise.
  • Leverage relationships with local partners and knowledge of the local healthcare quality needs and needs of the specific healthcare settings to surface business development opportunities.
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve and expand programs and projects to leverage existing services and grow Comagine Health's contract portfolio.
  • Support business development activities, including the development of a strategic plan to diversify funding sources in the relevant operational service line.
  • Monitor completion of timecards to ensure staff accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with related policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with service line leadership to monitor financial performance against contract budgets and take corrective action necessary in a timely manner to remain fiscally responsible for Comagine Health resources.
  • Set the strategic vision to achieve Comagine Health contract goals and deliverables, including a focus on recruitment, data acquisition, design of effective interventions, and methods of engagement.
  • Communicate the vision effectively to a team of staff and support their implementation of that vision utilizing tracking mechanisms, regular team communication, and data review to ensure targets are met.
  • Coordinate with the State Directors, Community Boards, patient and family advisory councils, and other stakeholders as needed to ensure the vision and work align with community needs.
  • Act as key spokesperson as needed. Convene, deliver, and prepare panels and presentations for Senior Executives, Board of Directors, and external state and national stakeholders.
  • Ensure sufficient internal coordination of issues/topics related to assigned contracts so that there is adequate communication and contract deliverables and client expectations are efficiently and effectively met.
  • Ensure project teams are meeting contract deliverables and evaluation measures utilizing a strategic approach, including coaching and mentoring of team members, supporting the creation of well-defined program plans, and consistently engaging local stakeholders and customers to ensure Comagine Health initiatives are aligned with and responsive to community needs.
  • Ensure that customers receive timely and appropriate contract deliverables with requested services. Initiate timely and appropriate communication, and other managerial interventions with internal staff and external stakeholders to identify and resolve issues.
  • Use the principles of QI internally to identify and implement better processes in partnership with the teams.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on department goals, standards, and objectives, through collaboration with the service line leadership.
  • Ensure that the service line leadership is informed in a timely manner regarding significant operational issues, performance measures, complaints/grievances, compliments, quality management initiatives, staffing concerns, and risk management issues.
  • Maintain compliance with organizations policies and procedures, including but not limited to the strategic plan, organizational structure, confidentiality, safety, and complaint/grievance resolution.
  • Utilize customer database (CRM) for project monitoring and relationship tracking, as appropriate.
  • Understand and adhere to Comagine Health's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program, and related policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Comagine Health's internal quality improvement activities as appropriate.
  • Perform related duties as required and assigned.
  • Ensure that performance expectations of direct reports are developed in accordance with standards and timeframes and expectations are developed in conjunction with the employee's professional goals to the degree possible.
  • Develop and implement a professional growth plan for each employee to maximize the use of his/her current skills while mentoring new skills in each employee.
  • Ensure that employees have the resources and opportunities needed in order to perform their assigned duties at a high level of effectiveness.
Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in a related field (an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience in a related field may be substituted).
  • 12-15 years' experience in a related field.
  • 8-10 years' supervisory experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Familiarity with videoconference technology (e.g. Zoom).
  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple simultaneous tasks in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to motivate and persuade others, including public speaking and presentation on controversial subjects, and ability to write clear, concise, and direct narrative and statistical reports.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of quality improvement theory, methods, and tools; and systems thinking in healthcare improvement.
  • Excellent mission-driven ambassador, coalition, and consensus builder, respected community connector to serve as liaison and bridge between communities, clients, and corporate counterparts.

Salary Range

$130,000 - $155,000

The salary range posted reflects the range that Comagine is willing to pay for this position. Salary is determined by many factors, including but not limited to geographic location of where the employee will perform their job duties in addition to their knowledge, skills, education, and relevant work experience.
