Assistive Technology Specialist

At Charles River Center, we are seeking a highly skilled Assistive Technology Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals with disabilities through innovative technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities:- Liaison & Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between external assistive technology providers and our organization, ensuring seamless integration of AT solutions that help individuals achieve their personal and professional goals.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with specialists, staff, and clinical experts to develop and implement tailored assistive technology solutions across various environments, including day programs and residential settings.
- AT Device Management: Oversee the acquisition, setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of assistive technology devices. Provide continuous training and support to individuals, staff, and families to ensure effective use.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all assistive technology assessments, plans, and staff training comply with DDS regulations.
- Research & Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in assistive technology. Conduct device setups and demos, offering hands-on support and practical guidance.
- Outreach & Promotion: Represent the Charles River Center's assistive technology program at community events, promoting the benefits of assistive technology and expanding our reach.
- Confidentiality & Documentation: Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and data security. Accurately document case notes daily for billing purposes.
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree is preferred, particularly in fields related to occupational therapy, special education, health sciences, or rehabilitation science.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working with persons with disabilities, with specific knowledge of assistive technology devices. Experience in developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in using and training others on Apple and Microsoft products. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain various AT devices.
- Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate effectively with individuals, families, and team members. Strong writing skills for documentation and report generation.
- Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Capable of managing multiple tasks and adapting to changing priorities.
- Team Player: Ability to work independently while being an integral part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team.
- Licensing: Valid Massachusetts Driver's License and reliable personal transportation are required.
