New York, New York, United States KIPP Full time

KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of 18 free, public charter schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.

We partner with families and communities to create joyful and rigorous schools in pursuit of a more just world.

In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in the Bronx, with a vision that every child grows up free to create the future they want for themselves and their communities.

Today, our network consists of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Forward, a comprehensive program to support our students and alumni in choosing and preparing for the educational and career paths that fit their goals and sense of purpose.

KIPP NYC currently serves more than 11,000 students and alumni, has a staff of more than 1,000 (11% of whom are alumni), and continues to grow.

The Director of Community Engagement will be an essential member of the regional External Affairs team.

The Director will work with our families and communities to identify the best strategies to recruit new KIPP NYC students and strengthen family engagement across KIPP NYC.

As such, the Director will manage the Ambassador Program team, composed of families and alumni -who are best positioned to demonstrate KIPP NYC as the number one school choice for our families.

The Director will also be responsible for executing the vision for impactful family and community engagement in our schools and with our regional teams.

The position will include significant time interacting with school staff, parents, KIPP NYC leadership, and external partners in order to ensure positive and productive relationships between KIPP NYC and local elected officials, Community Education Councils, Community Boards, and local community partners through active and engaged parents.

The Director of Community Engagement will report to the Chief External Affairs Officer.

This position may include after-hours commitments such as attending school-based events, hosting info sessions, attending community board meetings, calling families, that require in-person support during critical times of the year.

Lead and strategically manage the Family Ambassadors program to drive KIPP NYC student application goals.

Partner closely with the KIPP NYC Student Recruitment & Enrollment (SRE) team to design and implement innovative family and student recruitment and outreach strategies.
