Director of Communications and Engagement

The School of Professional Studies at New York University is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director of Communications and Engagement to join its Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success (EMSS).

This key role will serve as the EMSS division's communications point of contact, responsible for writing and editing content for prospective and current EMSS students, managing communications calendars, and driving innovation in all communications efforts, including social media, website, and email campaigns.

The successful candidate will leverage project management techniques to optimize events and communications functions throughout the unit, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.

This position will supervise two staff members and collaborate with stakeholders across EMSS, SPS, and NYU on cross-functional events and communications projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to engage EMSS students and stakeholders
  • Write and edit high-quality content for various channels, including social media, websites, and email campaigns
  • Manage communications calendars and ensure timely delivery of content
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and execute major events, including Orientation and Commencement
  • Supervise two staff members and provide guidance on communications and event planning

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably in a nonprofit or higher education environment
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Expertise in strategy and management of social media, website content, and email campaigns
  • Experience managing large-scale events
  • Knowledge of the student life-cycle, from prospective student to graduate
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, prioritize tasks efficiently, and adapt based on new information or changing contexts
  • Superior planning and organizational skills
  • Capable of working independently and across diverse student populations, institutional offices, and vendors

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Slate (or similar higher education-focused CRM) and Asana (or similar project management tool)
  • Experience in a large organization or University environment
