Job Summary

The University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Medical Director for the Center for Simulation and Innovation. As a key member of the College's leadership team, the Medical Director will define and lead the Center's mission, guiding the teaching, research, and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and direct the strategic vision and mission for the Center.
  • Monitor the Center's milestones and performance metrics to evaluate quality, delivery, and outcomes.
  • Approve the Center's business and marketing plans.
  • Provide medical expertise in the development, design, and implementation of the simulation curriculum for undergraduate and graduate medical education.
  • Oversee the Center's Operational Director, Curricular Co-Directors, relevant committees, staff, and faculty.
  • Identify, submit, and receive extramural funding.
  • Approve, supervise, and review research activities with scientific dissemination of findings.
  • Oversee the management, supervision, and training of all faculty and staff at the Center.
  • Ensure that the Simulation co-directors use a data-driven approach to work with block and clerkship directors to establish educational goals and objectives and relevant assessment tools.
  • Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and training of a large cohort of simulation instructors.
  • Explore faculty development opportunities in simulation for UA COM-P faculty and partners.
  • Participate as the lead institutional representative for the College at the Association of American Medical Colleges.
  • Promote collaboration across the college, university, community partners, the Phoenix Biomedical Campus, and external agencies at the national and international level to advance the use of simulation in healthcare education.
Requirements
  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current board certification in an area of clinical medicine and eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Arizona.
  • At least 6 years of teaching experience in medical education.
  • A minimum of 3 years of educational leadership in simulation, including financial/operational oversight and administrative experience in developing clinical curriculum and assessment.
  • ACLS, ATLS certified.
  • Healthcare Simulation Educator Certification.
