Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated HVAC Simulation Engineer to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. As an HVAC Simulation Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, testing and optimizing HVAC systems using advanced simulation software.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Engineer Customized HVAC Systems: Using advanced simulation software, design and engineer highly customized HVAC systems for large commercial applications, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and energy-efficient solutions.
- Simulate HVAC Performance: Simulate airflow, refrigerant flow and heat transfer in an HVAC cabinet – this includes simulating rotational geometry (fans), heat exchangers and filters using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software.
- Conduct Structural and Vibrational Analyses: Conduct Structural, Vibrational, Topology Optimization analyses on a wide variety of systems to improve quality of design & engineering.
- Optimize HVAC Systems: Optimize HVAC systems through parametric studies and sensitivity analyses.
- Write Automation Scripts: Write automation scripts to improve efficiency of simulations.
- Validate Simulation Results: Validate simulation results against real-world data and industry benchmarks.
- Integrate HVAC Designs: Incorporate the results of the simulations into actual high efficiency HVAC units.
- Collaborate with Engineers and Architects: Collaborate with other engineers and architects to integrate HVAC designs into overall building plans.
- Stay Current with Industry Trends: Stay current with evolving simulation technologies and HVAC industry trends.
- Prepare Technical Reports: Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations on simulation findings.
- Engineering Degree: ABET-Accredited Engineering Degree; Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in HVAC Design: 3+ years of experience in HVAC system design and thermodynamic modeling.
- CFD Software Experience: Experience with CFD software like ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+ or CD-Adapco.
- Thermodynamic Modeling Experience: Experience with running steady-state and transient thermodynamic system simulations.
- CAD Package Proficiency: Proficiency in at least one major CAD package (Solidworks, Catia, Creo etc).
- Automation Scripting Proficiency: Proficiency in at least one automation script programming language (Perl, Python, C++ etc).
- Building Energy Simulation Software: Proficiency in at least one major building energy simulation software package.
- Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics Knowledge: Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics principles.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
