About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Life Science Research Professional 3 to join the Long Lab at Stanford University. The successful candidate will lead projects that advance our understanding of the biochemical, cellular, and molecular mechanisms of the endocrine system, with a main emphasis on identifying signaling pathways that regulate glucose, lipid, and energy homeostasis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute complex research projects, including background research, experimental design, and problem-solving.
  • Develop new protocols and test and evaluate various approaches.
  • Perform experiments, maintain detailed records, and analyze and interpret research data.
  • Prepare progress reports and contribute to the preparation of papers for publication.
  • Present ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences.
  • Work with the health and safety department to ensure compliance with regulations and trainings.
  • Formally supervise and train new staff or students as needed.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related science field.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success through first-author publications or other quantifiable achievements.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
  • Independently designing, executing, and interpreting experiments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in cellular and molecular biochemical techniques.
Working Conditions
  • May require working in close proximity to blood-borne pathogens.
  • May require work in an environment where animals are used for teaching and research.
  • Position may at times require the employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.
  • Employee must perform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment.
  • May require extended or unusual work hours based on research requirements and business needs.
