Key Responsibilities:- Deliver expert technical guidance in Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) to guarantee the safe handling of fissile materials, thereby protecting personnel and property from potential nuclear incidents.
- Analyze equipment, processes, and procedures to recommend appropriate methods, control measures, and limitations.
- Conduct thorough inspections, audits, and assessments of fissile material operations to ensure adherence to safety regulations.
- Provide specialized NCS interpretations and advice to operational teams.
- Facilitate training sessions for staff on fundamental NCS principles.
- Maintain and operate nuclear computer codes and cross-section data.
- Develop, revise, and review essential NCS documentation, including Criticality Safety Evaluations (CSEs) and Nuclear Criticality Safety Determinations (NCSDs).
- Complete annual NCS Operational Reviews as required.
- Support daily nuclear facility operations through inspections and reviews of NCS-related documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with Department of Energy (DOE) regulations and standards.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Successful completion of drug screening.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License.
- Active Q Clearance.
- Over 20 years of relevant professional experience.
- 10 years of experience in a DOE-regulated environment.
