Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Operations Manager to join our team at See's Candies Shops Inc. As an Assistant Shop Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a single retail location, ensuring that staff, product, and shop operations are handled in accordance with our company guidelines and corporate philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Team Management: Provide leadership to the shop's team to achieve daily, monthly, and annual goals, while meeting our standards for customer service. Promote a sales-driven working environment.
  • Communication and Policy Implementation: Positively communicate and implement company direction, policies, and programs. Delegate and follow up to ensure compliance. Communicate with the Shop Manager on results.
  • Training and Development: Provide appropriate training and coaching to all team members to ensure understanding and compliance with all rules, policies, procedures, and programs. Monitor team members' performance, providing appropriate coaching and feedback; work in cooperation with the Shop Manager.
  • Recruitment and Selection: Assist in the recruitment and selection of qualified candidates for hiring, providing recommendations to the Shop Manager. Follow company interview and selection guidelines.
  • Customer Service and Shop Operations: Lead by example to ensure all team members are in compliance with our Customer Service program; Visual Merchandising guidelines; Product Management and Loss Prevention; and Work Rules. Communicate with the Shop Manager regarding issues pertaining to customer service, shop operations, and cash handling & loss prevention. Promote our Open Door Policy.
  • Coaching and Feedback: Lead by example in providing appropriate coaching, feedback, to shop's team. Assure all written and verbal communication are professional and appropriate.
  • Cash Handling and Asset Protection: Directly responsible for ensuring all procedures related to cash handling, protection of our assets, and banking are followed at all times.
  • Timekeeping and Payroll: Maintain the accuracy and integrity of all timekeeping records. Responsible for timely first approval of weekly payroll. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws that cover payment of wages. Responsible for adhering to and enforcing compliance with rules related to meals and rest periods.
  • Scheduling and Staffing: In partnership with the Shop Manager, implement weekly work schedule and consult with the Shop Manager when changes are needed due to fluctuation in business volume and/or due to unexpected staffing needs.
  • Paperwork and Compliance: Ensure all paperwork is submitted according with established deadlines and protocols. This includes all paperwork related to banking of our assets/receipts; new hire paperwork; and paperwork related to changes in employee personal data; sales information; inventory results; etc.
  • Confidentiality and Safety: Responsible for assuring the confidentiality of PPI (Protected Personal Information) is maintained. Ensure all team members are in compliance with all Safety Program guidelines, including daily exercises, reviewing monthly safety topic, accident prevention, reporting, investigation, and resolution, Emergency Action Plan, and hold-up procedures.
  • Reporting and Communication: Provide information required by the Shop Operations Office according to deadlines.
  • Other Projects: Other projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Physical Ability: Physical ability to carry out the essential functions of the job, including: packing candy, stocking shelves, ringing sales, standing or walking the entire shift, and lifting up to 25 pounds frequently.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of retail management experience.
  • Leadership and Coaching: Proven success in developing, motivating, training, and coaching employees.
  • Sales and Business Growth: Proven ability to grow the business by seeking sales opportunities and developing a sales-driven team.
  • Adaptability and Technology: Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly and manage change efficiently, proactively, and in a positive manner.

Compensation: The pay rate for this position is $22.87/hr. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, in addition to a full range of generous medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
