Chemical Equipment Maintenance Specialist

The Army National Guard operates a diverse array of systems essential for safeguarding and serving the military. As a Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairer, your role will be pivotal in ensuring these systems function at optimal levels.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will be responsible for the upkeep of chemical decontamination apparatus and quartermaster machinery. Your training will encompass the maintenance of laundry and bath systems, pumps, engines, burners, filtration units, and water purification systems. Your expertise will be vital in preserving specialized equipment, decontamination systems, protective filter systems, smoke generation systems, and chemical electrical systems.
Job Duties Include:
- Servicing internal combustion engine ignition, fuel, cooling, and electrical systems
- Conducting damage assessments and repairs
Skills Development
You will acquire knowledge in internal combustion engine theory and practical skills in shop mechanics, engine repair, and machinery maintenance. This training will equip you for a rewarding civilian career in sectors such as marine transportation, commercial fishing, oil exploration, or drilling. You may find opportunities as a marine engine mechanic in the future.
Compensation While Training
Instead of incurring costs for your education, you will earn a salary while you learn. In the Army National Guard, you will gain these essential skills while receiving a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.
After completing 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you will learn fundamental soldiering skills, you will proceed to 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). This training will combine hands-on experience and classroom instruction, focusing on marine engine maintenance, internal combustion engine theory, and the proper use and care of hand and power tools.

Requirements:

- Ability to pass a physical examination and meet legal and moral standards
- Must meet citizenship requirements
