At Waste Connections, we are seeking a dedicated Environmental Waste Management Specialist to join our team in Hermiston, OR. As a highly motivated and safety-minded individual, you will be responsible for hauling cardboard in a Rear Load Truck.

Our ideal candidate is a dependable and service-driven person who is passionate about the environment. You will work a local CDL route with a set schedule, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday off. The workday typically starts at 5:00 AM and can last between 9-11 hours.

We offer a competitive salary of $28.66 per hour, plus a yearly safety bonus of up to $1,500, a yearly boot allowance, and performance-based career growth potential. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Safely operating a CDL truck on specified routes to collect solid waste. Waste experience is preferred but not required.
  • Reading the route tablet and servicing each customer identified on the route or assigned by the dispatcher.
  • Performing routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Loading and unloading cardboard, sometimes with no helpers.
  • Operating hydraulic hand controls to remove refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
  • Providing courteous interaction with customers and performing other miscellaneous job-related duties assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A valid Class A or Class B CDL license with an air brake endorsement.
  • Ability to function in a wide variety of environments to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move/maneuver up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to mount and dismount the truck multiple times every day while on route.
