I. Position Summary
This role is for a seasoned engineering professional who will provide advanced expertise and may engage in various engineering disciplines across multiple projects. The individual may operate as an independent contributor or lead teams focused on specific assignments. Responsibilities include assembling a suitably sized engineering support team and conducting analyses to formulate recommendations for operational projects while establishing engineering standards and procedures. The primary focus will be on supporting Waste Management Renewable Energy (WMRE), with occasional assistance on other company initiatives.

II. Key Responsibilities
To excel in this position, the individual must effectively manage the following essential duties. Additional minor tasks may be assigned as needed:
  • Act as the principal Owners Engineer for all WMRE facilities, overseeing design evaluations for all ongoing or upcoming projects.
  • Structure engineering programs and projects in alignment with departmental and special project needs.
  • Supervise the project engineering team, including recommendations for hiring, performance evaluations, task assignments, and setting departmental goals.
  • When designated as project lead, allocate project team members to specific project phases or tasks, such as technical planning and testing.
  • Coordinate activities related to technical developments, scheduling, and troubleshooting engineering design and testing challenges.
  • Design and evaluate components, equipment, and systems utilizing principles from electrical, mechanical, chemical, and/or industrial engineering.
  • Participate actively as a team member within the assigned group and/or project team.
  • Provide technical guidance to project team members.
  • Assess and review work to ensure quality and adherence to timelines, maintaining quality control in line with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that departmental project objectives are achieved within the defined parameters and requirements.

IV. Qualifications
The qualifications listed below are representative of the necessary credentials to perform this role effectively.

A. Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or a related field is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required, with 10 years preferred.
Preferred experience includes:

Familiarity with technologies related to landfill-derived renewable natural gas processing equipment (compression systems, membrane technology, PSA/TSA technology) to facilitate CO2 removal, nitrogen rejection, oxygen scavenging, and methane optimization.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
No specific certifications required.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Required
Willingness to travel up to 25%.
