Job Classification: This position is part of the Emergency Medical Services Division within the Fire Department of the City of Oklahoma City. The Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) Paramedic is tasked with delivering enhanced medical services to frequent 911 users and individuals with non-emergency medical issues, in collaboration with a Behavioral Health Navigation Responder.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers emergency field patient care, executing basic and advanced medical procedures in line with established protocols.
  • Provides non-emergency paramedic services to patients referred for non-urgent medical needs.
  • Conducts in-home welfare checks and assessments for patients with non-emergency referrals.
  • Assists patients in scheduling medical appointments and offers transportation to these appointments.
  • Acts as a patient advocate, facilitating access to community services.
  • Collaborates with Oklahoma City Fire Department personnel and Community Health Care Providers to assess patients' medical needs.
  • Coordinates with Mobile Integrated Health team members and partners to ensure effective patient follow-up care.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Veterans Preference: Honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces, National Guard, and Reserve Forces who are not currently employed full-time by the City of Oklahoma City and meet the position qualifications will receive preference. To qualify for preference, veterans must provide verification of honorable discharge from military service prior to the closing date of the job announcement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years of experience as a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Oklahoma Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Licensure.
  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Licensure.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
  • Valid Driver License (Operator).

  • Effective communication skills with various levels of healthcare professionals, law enforcement, First Responder organizations, Fire Department personnel, and the public.
  • Commitment to ongoing Emergency Medical Service education and maintaining required certifications.

Pay Method: City employees must receive pay electronically, either through direct deposit or pay card.
