Note: The starting salary for this role is at the base of the pay scale mentioned above. A higher salary may be offered based on the qualifications and experience of the chosen candidate, as well as the City's step placement policy.

Job Classification: This position is part of the Emergency Medical Services Division within the Fire Department of the City of Oklahoma City. The Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) Paramedic is tasked with delivering advanced medical services to frequent 911 users and individuals with non-urgent medical issues, collaborating with a Behavioral Health Navigation Responder.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administers emergency field patient care, executing basic and advanced medical procedures in line with established protocols.
- Provides non-emergency paramedic care to patients referred for non-urgent medical needs.
- Conducts in-home welfare checks and assessments for patients with non-urgent referrals.
- Assists patients in scheduling medical appointments and offers transportation to these appointments.
- Acts as an advocate for patients, facilitating access to community services.
- Collaborates with personnel from the Oklahoma City Fire Department and Community Health Care Providers to assess patients' medical needs.
- Coordinates with Mobile Integrated Health team members and partners to ensure effective patient follow-up care.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Veterans Preference: Honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces, National Guard, and Reserve Forces who are not currently employed full-time by the City of Oklahoma City and meet the position qualifications will receive preference. To qualify for this preference, veterans must provide verification of honorable discharge from military service prior to the vacancy announcement closing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least two (2) years of experience as a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Oklahoma Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Licensure.
- National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Licensure.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
- Valid Driver License (Operator).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of and ability to comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
- Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to use tact and persuasion to gain patient cooperation.
