Key Responsibilities

This position has a limited tenure of 2 years.

The Pathology Accessioning Team is seeking a Laboratory Processing Technician to contribute to their operations. In this role, you will engage in various laboratory tasks that play a crucial role in patient diagnostics at Mayo Clinic. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborating with team members to create an inclusive work atmosphere, valuing diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Conducting pre-analytic specimen processing tasks.
  • Utilizing a range of laboratory and office equipment.
  • Inputting information and test orders into the laboratory information system.
  • Managing a high volume of inquiries regarding laboratory testing.
  • Ensuring accurate patient identification on specimens.
  • Documenting and resolving pre-analytic specimen-related challenges.
  • Possibly preparing complex reagents.
  • Overseeing inventory for the work unit.
  • Operating automated systems.
  • Providing training and guidance to colleagues.


Qualifications

An associate degree or a high school diploma with two years of relevant work experience in a clinical laboratory or similar field is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a health or science discipline.
  • Familiarity with computers, keyboarding, and office equipment.
  • Ability to accurately interpret specimen labels and work with numerical data to avoid mislabeling.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to accommodate schedule changes, including off-shifts and weekend assignments.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols for handling chemicals and infectious materials.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is set at $25.29 per hour, with consideration given to education, experience, and internal equity.

This position is eligible for benefits and requires full-time commitment with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
