Key Responsibilities

While prior experience is advantageous, Mayo Clinic offers on-the-job training for this position. As a laboratory technician, you will join a diverse and dynamic team responsible for the receipt, verification, processing, and storage of biological specimens.

Your role will also encompass various clerical and laboratory tasks, including:
  • Maintaining supply inventory
  • Filing and stocking
  • Receiving shipments
  • Cleaning and organizing the workspace

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

Additional Qualifications

All candidates must submit a cover letter and resume to be considered for this role. Employees currently in the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology/Mayo Collaborative Services must have been in their current position for at least two years and provide early release approval from their supervisor.

Preferred qualifications include:
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations and medical terminology
  • A background in science
  • 1-2 years of medical experience

Successful candidates will demonstrate:
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols for handling chemicals and biological materials
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers and telephone systems

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position, requiring 80 hours per pay period, with a schedule from Tuesday to Saturday, including every Saturday.
