Key Responsibilities
The Pathology Accessioning Team is seeking a Laboratory Processing Technician to enhance their operations.
In this role, you will engage in various laboratory tasks that contribute indirectly to patient diagnosis at Mayo Clinic.
Your responsibilities will include:1. Collaborating with team members to create an inclusive work atmosphere that respects diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
2. Conducting pre-analytic specimen processing.
3. Utilizing a range of laboratory and office equipment.
4. Inputting information and test orders into the laboratory information system.
5. Handling a high volume of inquiries regarding laboratory testing.
6. Ensuring accurate patient identification on specimens.
7. Documenting and resolving pre-analytic specimen-related challenges.
8. Potentially preparing complex reagents.
9. Managing inventory for the work unit.
10. Operating automated systems.
11. Providing training to colleagues.

Important Notes
Individuals hired for this position must complete a minimum of 2 years in this role before being eligible to apply for other positions within Mayo Clinic.
Qualifications
An associate degree or a high school diploma with 2 years of relevant work experience in a clinical laboratory or similar field is required.
Additional Qualifications- An associate's degree in a health or science discipline is preferred.
- Familiarity with computers, keyboarding, and office equipment is desirable.
- Ability to accurately interpret specimen labels and work with numerical data to avoid mislabeling.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with effective oral and written communication abilities.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Flexibility to accommodate schedule changes, including off-shifts, holidays, and weekends.
Attention to detail and adherence to strict safety protocols for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious materials are essential.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. There are no weekend shifts.
