Job Summary:

As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality anesthesia care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures. Under the medical supervision of an Anesthesiologist, you will administer general and regional anesthesia, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients across all age groups. Your expertise will be essential in managing airway, fluid balance, and homeostasis, as well as responding to emergencies related to airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patients pre-operatively through thorough interviews and examinations.
  • Review patient charts for relevant information and collaborate with Anesthesiologists to select anesthetic agents.
  • Monitor patients' responses to pre-medication and communicate with surgeons and Anesthesiologists regarding special patient concerns.
  • Check anesthesia equipment daily and between cases to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Administer anesthesia in accordance with clinical privileges and take necessary actions to maintain patient stability.
  • Evaluate patients' post-operative conditions within 24 hours and take necessary actions to ensure a smooth recovery.
  • Precept student nurse anesthetists and maintain accurate records of controlled substances.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies as outlined in department policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an educational program in Nurse Anesthesia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs and Schools.
  • Registered Nurse License (California)
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (California)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Basic Life Support
  • National Provider Identifier
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist National Certification
Additional Requirements:
  • Experience in anesthesia for major procedures involving extensive monitoring and fluid, blood, and electrolyte replacement for various age group patients.
  • CRNAs must demonstrate both technical/clinical and professional skill and ability along with all related techniques and procedures within the scope of practice as defined by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs.
