Work Schedule: Full Time - 3 days a week, 12-hour shifts

Shift: Daytime hours with shared on-call responsibilities

Your Role:

The Surgical Services Specialist plays a crucial role in the preparation and management of surgical supplies, equipment, and the overall readiness of the operating room. This position requires expertise in surgical instruments, the ability to assemble complex devices, and a solid understanding of anatomy. Strong anticipatory skills and dexterity are essential. Additionally, the specialist must stay informed about new products, procedures, and techniques used by physicians. This role supports various surgical services to ensure a safe and effective environment for both patients and staff, operating under the direct supervision of the perioperative registered nurse and the operating surgeon.

Your Contributions to the Team:

  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of aseptic techniques in line with recommended standards
  • Shows adaptability and a proactive approach to assigned duties, assisting colleagues with minimal supervision
  • Understands preoperative diagnoses, potential complications, and surgical pathology relevant to specific procedures
  • Utilizes surgeon preference cards to effectively implement care plans during surgeries
  • Selects and prepares the necessary supplies and equipment for surgical procedures

Qualifications:

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proficiency in the English language
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is mandatory
  • Certification as a Surgical Technician is required
