The Opportunity

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer II to join our Eastern Regional Operations team. This role focuses on delivering geologic, geotechnical, and geoenvironmental engineering services essential for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of transportation infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Conduct engineering tasks related to the design and preparation of plans for roadway embankments, slopes, retaining walls, sound barriers, and bridge foundations utilizing mathematical modeling and software applications.

2. Collaborate with various teams within Transportation Services, including Roadway Design, Structure Management, Hydraulics, Traffic Control, and Project Management to fulfill project requirements.

3. Assist in the development of requests for proposals and cost estimates for external consulting services.

4. Review geotechnical designs created by in-house teams or external consultants to ensure compliance with agency policies and standards.

5. Provide technical support and guidance to internal offices regarding geotechnical considerations in design and construction for ongoing projects.

6. Participate in value management teams to assess geotechnical elements of projects and review proposals for value engineering.

7. Attend relevant conferences, technical meetings, and professional organizations to stay updated on industry trends.


What You Bring:

1. Proficiency in understanding and interpreting construction plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.

2. Experience in evaluating soil and rock properties and applying this knowledge to geotechnical engineering analyses.

3. Competence in using software tools for analyzing driven piles, pile driving suitability, drilled piers, and slope stability.

4. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.


Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Additional Notes:

Registration as a professional engineer may be required. Occasional travel may be necessary.
