Position Overview

Delta Oaks Group is in search of a qualified individual to undertake a variety of geotechnical engineering functions.

This role encompasses a range of technical assessments and project management support services pertinent to the field of geotechnical engineering.

The ideal candidate will possess four (4) to seven (7) years of relevant experience in geotechnical or comparable engineering disciplines. Proficiency in deep and shallow foundation design, laboratory soil testing, and the preparation of technical documentation with minimal oversight is essential.

Key Responsibilities


Under the guidance of senior engineering staff, the selected candidate will be expected to leverage strong analytical capabilities in geotechnical engineering across diverse sectors, including commercial and telecommunications.


Specific tasks may include:
• Collaborating with geotechnical drilling subcontractors to facilitate the field components of geotechnical investigations.


• Conducting soil and rock classifications along with laboratory analyses for geotechnical engineering applications across various sectors.

• Executing field resistivity tests; monitoring and inspecting foundation installations and modifications; performing hand auger and dynamic cone penetrometer tests; and documenting soil profiles as necessary.


• Completing geotechnical calculations to assess the capacity of existing foundations or to inform the design of new foundation systems, pavements, earth retention structures, etc.

• Engaging with related disciplines, both internally and externally, throughout the analysis and report preparation phases.

• Preparing and compiling reports and supporting documents for all technical analyses.

• Managing personal workload to ensure timely completion of tasks.

• Coordinating and overseeing subcontracted drillers, private utility locators, and other facets of geotechnical investigations.


Given the dynamic nature and tight timelines of most projects, the successful candidate should demonstrate a strong work ethic and interpersonal skills necessary for thriving in a fast-paced environment where effective communication with colleagues and strategic partners is critical.

Technical Proficiencies

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.

• Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software such as Shaft and gINT is advantageous.

• Experience with drafting software (AutoCAD) is a plus.

• Knowledge of slope stability software like STABL Suite, Geoslope, or equivalent tools is beneficial.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution; a Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field is preferred.

Required Competencies:
• EI registration is mandatory; PE registration is preferred.

Required Experience:


• A minimum of four (4) to seven (7) years of engineering experience in geotechnical engineering or related fields, specifically in deep and shallow foundations.

Travel Requirements

• Occasional travel, less than 10%, may be necessary for project meetings and field investigations.
