Position Overview

St. Charles Community College is dedicated to fostering student achievement and diversity within our academic community. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of Part-time Educator: Electricity and Electronics. This position involves teaching courses within the Electricity and Electronics certificate and degree programs, which may include lectures and laboratory sessions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering both theoretical and practical training in the following areas. The role requires the creation and implementation of instructional materials that adhere to recognized industry standards in Electricity and Electronics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive instruction in Electricity and Electronics Theory.
  • Facilitate hands-on training in practical applications relevant to the industry.
  • Assess student learning outcomes effectively in both classroom and laboratory environments.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Associate degree with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, a Journeyman Electrician License, or a certificate in Electricity and/or Electronics.
  • At least one year of teaching or training experience in the last decade in the field of Electricity and Electronics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate flexibility in scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics from an accredited institution, or a closely related field, along with a Master Electrician License.
  • Graduate-level coursework in relevant fields.
  • Three years of teaching and three years of industry experience in Electricity/Electrical Engineering and Electronics.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Possession of relevant certifications such as EIT, PE, CTP, PgMP, CSEP, PLC, SCADA, CEM, CAD, or similar.
