Adjunct Instructor: Manufacturing

The Workforce Development department at SCC is inviting applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor: Manufacturing. This role involves teaching courses in Manufacturing, including certificate and degree programs, through lectures and hands-on labs. Course schedules may vary, including daytime, evening, or weekend sessions based on demand. Appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis as needed.

Ideal candidates will be responsible for delivering instructional content and practical training in various manufacturing topics. The instructor will develop and present training that aligns with industry-standard manufacturing practices. The successful candidate will teach essential manufacturing concepts, safety protocols, and provide an overview of specializations such as quality control, process optimization, maintenance, and lean manufacturing methodologies. Additionally, the role includes overseeing technical assignments and laboratory instruction to equip students for careers in today’s manufacturing sector.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree coupled with a minimum of five years of experience in the manufacturing sector, including machining, fabrication, or welding, or a closely related field. Relevant professional experience, recognized certifications, registered apprenticeships, and/or licenses may be accepted in lieu of formal educational credentials.
  • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment is essential.
  • At least one year of instructional or training experience within the last decade in manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours as necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of experience in manufacturing, machining, fabrication, welding, or a closely related field.
  • Three years of instructional or training experience along with three years of industry experience within the last decade in manufacturing or a related field.
  • Experience in an educational environment.
