The Workforce Development department at SCC is inviting applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor: Manufacturing. This role involves teaching courses related to Manufacturing, including both certificate and degree programs, in various formats such as lectures and labs. Classes may be scheduled during the day, evening, or on weekends based on institutional needs. Appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis as required.

Successful candidates will be responsible for delivering both theoretical and practical training in the following areas. Instructors will develop and implement training that aligns with industry-standard Manufacturing practices. The role entails teaching foundational manufacturing concepts, safety protocols, and an overview of specialized areas, including quality assurance, process optimization, maintenance, and lean manufacturing techniques. Additionally, instructors will conduct a range of technical assignments and laboratory sessions designed to equip students for entry into the contemporary manufacturing sector.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree with a minimum of five years of experience in Manufacturing, machining, fabrication, welding, or a closely related discipline. Relevant professional experience, recognized certifications, registered apprenticeships, and/or licenses may be accepted in lieu of formal educational qualifications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment is essential.
  • At least one year of instructional or training experience within the last decade in Manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of experience in Manufacturing, machining, fabrication, welding, or a closely related field.
  • Three years of instructional or training experience coupled with three years of industry experience within the last decade in Manufacturing or a related sector.
  • Experience in an educational environment.
